Current Opportunities

We currently have two exciting roles available that are central to supporting our mission and making a real difference in Wakefield:

Events and Marketing Assistant

Full-time | Based in Wakefield City Centre | Some evening, weekend, and bank holiday working required

Salary: Up to £27,500

We’re looking for someone with creativity, energy, and a passion for local. As our Events and Marketing Assistant, you’ll help us plan and deliver exciting events, run engaging marketing campaigns, and work closely with local businesses to boost footfall and promote everything Wakefield has to offer.

You’ll manage our websites and social media, support initiatives that make the city thrive, and help us keep Wakefield BID and Ey Up Wakefield fresh and vibrant.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong organisational and creative skills

  • Experience in event planning and/or marketing (particularly in community, tourism, or hospitality sectors)

  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation

  • A passion for working with local businesses and building relationships

Hours: Full-time (some evenings, weekends, and bank holiday working required)

Street Ranger

Part-time | 30 hours | Based in Wakefield City Centre

Salary: £12.50 per hour

Our Street Ranger is a key role in helping keep Wakefield city centre clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. From cleaning and maintaining public spaces to supporting local businesses and assisting visitors, you’ll be the friendly face of Wakefield on the ground.

This role requires someone proactive who enjoys a physical, hands-on role and has a genuine interest in improving public spaces for the benefit of the community.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional manner

  • A practical, “can-do” attitude

  • Comfortable with physical tasks and working in varying weather conditions

  • A clean UK driving licence (required)

Non-Executive Director

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about Wakefield’s future. Wakefield BID is looking for 4-5 Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join our team and play a key role in driving the city forward. If you’ve got expertise in the Night Time Economy, Restaurants, Leisure, Office/Services, or Education, we want to hear from you.

As a BID that’s driven by our local business community, we represent almost 700 businesses who are all about making Wakefield better. Our priorities are simple:

  • PLACE: We’re working hard to keep Wakefield’s city centre clean, safe, and welcoming around the clock.

  • PROVISION: Supporting businesses as Wakefield evolves – we’re here with practical and financial backing.

  • PROMOTION: We’re raising Wakefield’s profile and showing off everything our city has to offer through exciting events and strategic marketing.

As a Non-Executive Director, you’ll be part of a team providing high-quality leadership to Wakefield BID and helping to guide our mission. The role is unpaid, but expenses are covered, and you’ll need to commit to around 8-10 days per year.
