We spoke to business owners across the city centre to find out what they thought of the BID.
Cormac Hamilton is Trinity Walk centre manager, he said: "The sum of Wakefield city centre's parts makes for a compelling offer for both visitors and retailers. The city has a lot to offer right now with real potential for growth. Transport links are good and we are culturally unique with Barbara Hepworth legacy. Add in food and tourism, and the possibilities for growth are strong.
"A BID has the potential to bring together and galvanise businesses of all sizes to be part of something bigger than themselves to take Wakefield city centre forward on to the next level with more people here spending more money and creating a bigger, stronger economy."
