WAKEFIELD BID APPOINTS MANAGER

Wakefield Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Murphy as BID Manager from June 2017.

Following a ‘yes’ vote for the BID by businesses in February, Elizabeth was recruited via Wakefield-based First Choice Recruitment and will work on the development and implementation of a strategic plan to make improvements to the city centre and BID area. She will report directly to the BID chair David Owens of The Beer Exchange and board of levy payers within the BID area.

Elizabeth has held management roles within both the private and public sector, with her most recent role being that of Retail and Night Time Economy Lead Officer at Wakefield Council for the past two years.

Wakefield BID Chair David Owens says, “We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth to our team here in Wakefield and feel that with her passion and experience, Elizabeth can work with the board and businesses in the BID area bringing the business plan to life and making a better Wakefield city centre a reality'”

Elizabeth comments, “I am looking forward to working with the levy payers and delivering results from the business plan. Wakefield is such a great city, with a lot to offer already and with the addition of the BID, I’m confident we can drive lots of improvements for the businesses and people of Wakefield”.
