The search for two ‘Wakefield Angels’ to switch on the Ridings Christmas Lights on Saturday 18th November has now closed, with the winners (one adult and one child) being revealed in next week’s Wakefield Express.

The two community heroes will join Heart Breakfast’s Dixie and Emma, plus a range of big name and local entertainers, at the Switch On, which will take place from 12pm – 3pm.

Singer songwriter Lucy Spraggan who rose to fame on X-Factor 2012 will be performing songs from her latest album and celebrity impersonator and TV star Francine Lewis (star of Britain’s Got Talent 2013) will bring her hilarious impressions to Wakefield for the very first time.

They’ll be joined by a range of local performers including Stagecoach Wakefield, Samantha’s School of Dance, Ellite Studios, Priory Players, the Wakefield Girls High School Junior Choir, and the Wakefield Trinity X Dance Squad. Wakefield Trinity Players will also make a guest appearance and will give away a full 2017/18 home kit in a live fans’ prize draw.

The Ridings Centre Director Lee Appleton said, “The Switch On includes a fantastic line up of entertainment with big names like Lucy Spraggan and Francine Lewis alongside popular Wakefield Trinity players and a wealth of home-grown talent. We’re really excited to celebrate our Wakefield Angels and give our two community heroes the recognition they deserve”.
