A cosmopolitan new cocktail event is hoping to cause a positive stir in Wakefield city centre.
WFD Cocktails in the City is being led by Wakefield BID (Business Improvement District) in partnership with 10 leading venues including Jock's Cavern, Robatary, The Establishment, The Quarter Cafe Bar, Velvet, The Supper Club, Now Serving, Kindred Spirit, Stereo and Qubana.
Each city centre venue will all serve up 4 unique signature cocktails priced at just £5 each over 4 days from November 15 to 18.
The aim is to entice more people in to experience Wakefield’s changing evening economy and encourage multiple venues to work together as part of a wider event.
Elizabeth Murphy, Manager of Wakefield BID, said: “The face of Wakefield’s evening economy and nightlife is changing and this event is designed to encourage people to come and experience that first hand in a quality, responsible way.
“I think people will be surprised when they experience this quiet revolution of quality new venues, especially when compared to even just a few years ago. We’ve now got strength in depth, with more on the way.
“Our longer term aim is to achieve purple flag status for the city centre which is the national evening economy seal of approval for a quality, safe night out. Working with many venues and partners, we’ve been spearheading new training and initiatives like the Drink Aware Club Crew where we were Yorkshire’s first city to sign up and deliver training for it. This new event all forms part of that wider work.”
