Here's Wakefield BID's response to the news that Wakefield Council's city centre (BID area) application to the Government's Future High Street Fund has been successful and moved to phase 2.

Graham Howarth, chair of Wakefield BID, said: "Making it to phase 2 of the Government's Future High Street fund is a major step forward towards securing some game changing funding for Wakefield city centre which covers the BID area.

"Working with public and private sector partners, Wakefield Council pulled together an excellent application and we will now all work together to create a plan for the city centre that will form the final application for final multi million pound funding from the Government.

"We face some stiff competition as 49 other town and city centres have also made it to phase 2, but our focus is Wakefield. The BID has already planted the seeds to help improve the city centre, some of which have already come to fruition with more to come."
