Wakefield will once again shine bright this November as Light Up Wakefield returns – bigger, bolder, and more magical than ever! ✨

The weekend will see the city centre illuminated with stunning light art installations, live performances, and festive celebrations to kick off the Christmas season. The fun begins on Friday 21 November with entertainment in the Cathedral Precinct, followed by the Christmas Light Switch-On at 5:30pm and a spectacular Lantern Parade lighting up the streets from 6pm.

Visitors can pick up a free trail map from the Event Hub at WX (Wakefield Exchange) to explore the full Light Trail, including highlights such as:

• ‘Let’s Draw’, an interactive digital mural
• ‘Ship of the Gods’, inspired by Norse mythology
• ‘Rever’, a mesmerising sound and light experience

There’ll also be plenty of fringe activity from partners, festive performances, and opportunities to get involved as a volunteer – from helping at the event hub to joining the Lantern Parade itself.

Light Up Wakefield is organised by Wakefield Council, with support from local partners.
