Wakefield BID Wins Best Not-For-Profit at the 2025 Wakefield Business Awards

Wakefield Business Improvement District (Wakefield BID) is proud to share that we have been named Best Not-For-Profit of the Year at the Wakefield Business Awards 2025, held at Tileyard North on Thursday 13 November.

Earlier this year, Wakefield BID was shortlisted in three categories — Not-For-Profit/Charity of the Year, Team of the Year and Collaboration of the Year. The win in the Not-For-Profit category recognises the work we deliver on behalf of over 400 businesses across Wakefield, and the impact our programmes are having on safety, footfall, business support and the wider city centre experience.

A reflection of collective effort

This achievement highlights the combined work of our small, committed team and the strong partnerships we continue to build with Wakefield Council, West Yorkshire Police, local organisations and our business community. Throughout the year, the BID has delivered projects ranging from Safer Wakefield and street improvements to major events, campaigns and new initiatives designed to support businesses and encourage people into the city.

Thomas Wales, Chief Executive of Wakefield BID, said:

“We’re delighted to receive this recognition. Everything we deliver is shaped by the needs of our members, and this award reflects their commitment to making Wakefield a better place to do business. Our team works incredibly hard, and we’re grateful to everyone who continues to support and champion the BID.”

Looking ahead

The award comes at a significant time as Wakefield BID continues to strengthen its programmes ahead of the upcoming ballot period. The focus remains on delivering meaningful support, improving the city’s safety and environment, and continuing to drive footfall and investment into Wakefield.

Wakefield BID would like to congratulate all the shortlisted organisations and winners across the evening, each contributing to Wakefield’s growing profile and success.
