Best Bar None Accreditation

PROMOTION | PROVISION

Best Bar None is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme backed by the Home Office and the drinks industry. It supports licensed venues, restaurants and leisure destinations to stand out for doing things right.

Led locally by Wakefield BID, the scheme celebrates well-run venues while supporting a safer, more vibrant and successful night-time economy across Wakefield city centre. It’s about showcasing the positive work venues already do and giving customers, partners and authorities confidence in Wakefield’s evening and night-time offer.

What does Best Bar None mean for venues?

Best Bar None is open to licensed bars and pubs, restaurants, clubs and leisure venues, including cultural and entertainment spaces such as theatres.

For participating venues, Best Bar None is an opportunity to raise your profile, strengthen your reputation and gain a recognised quality mark that customers trust.

Participants receive expert, independent feedback alongside practical support and clear guidance on improving standards around safety, staff training, inclusive practice and responsible management.

The scheme helps venues build stronger, more constructive relationships with the police and council, demonstrates a clear commitment to best practice, and positions your business as part of a collective effort to promote a welcoming, well-managed and thriving night-time economy in Wakefield.

Best Bar None is not about catching venues out – it’s about recognising what you already do well and supporting continuous improvement across the city.

Why Wakefield BID is leading Best Bar None

By leading Best Bar None locally, Wakefield BID is working to support positive partnership working, raise standards consistently across the city centre and champion the venues that help make Wakefield a great place to enjoy an evening or night out.

The scheme sits alongside Wakefield BID’s wider work to support safety and confidence in the night-time economy, including Safer Wakefield, and forms part of a joined-up approach to supporting businesses, visitors and residents alike.
