Green Light for Major Revamp at The Ridings

Plans to transform a key part of The Ridings shopping centre have officially been approved, paving the way for a bold new chapter for this much-loved city centre destination.

The scheme focuses on All Saints Walk—home to 22 retail units that are now set to be completely refreshed with new cladding, black-framed windows, and updated façades designed to give the space a more contemporary and welcoming look.

Many of the units earmarked for improvement are currently vacant, and this significant investment is aimed at bringing new energy, footfall, and opportunity into the heart of the city.

Thomas Wales, Chief Executive of Wakefield BID, said:
“This is fantastic news for Wakefield. The Ridings is an important part of our city centre, and this investment shows real commitment to making it a vibrant and thriving destination once again. We’re proud to support any move that helps boost local businesses and improve the experience for those who live, work, and visit here.”

The new look is set to create a more cohesive and attractive environment—especially for the many independent traders within The Ridings—while encouraging new occupiers to bring fresh ideas and retail offers to the space.

Wakefield BID looks forward to seeing the transformation unfold and will continue to champion projects that enhance and reinvigorate Wakefield city centre.
