Wakefield BID and Safer Wakefield Join National Crime Partnership Network

Wakefield BID is proud to announce that its business crime reduction initiative, Safer Wakefield, has officially joined the National Association of Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (NABCP) – strengthening its commitment to creating a safer, stronger city for everyone who lives, works, and visits Wakefield.

This national accreditation recognises the work already being done through Safer Wakefield – from coordinated business intelligence-sharing and targeted patrols, to training, radios, and direct links with partners.

Thomas Wales, Chief Executive of Wakefield BID, said:
“Safer Wakefield was built in direct response to what our businesses told us they needed – better communication, stronger connections, and practical tools to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Becoming part of NABCP puts our partnership on the national map, ensures we meet best practice standards, and gives us a stronger voice when it comes to championing the needs of our city.”

As part of the NABCP network, Safer Wakefield will continue working with local partners, but now also benefit from access to national data, specialist support, and policy-shaping opportunities across the UK. This means greater consistency, more impact, and a safer environment across Wakefield for both day and night-time economies.

Sophie Jordan, Manager of the NABCP, added:
“We’re delighted to welcome Safer Wakefield to the NABCP family. Wakefield BID has demonstrated a strong commitment to tackling business crime and anti-social behaviour through a business-led, intelligence-based model. Their approach is practical, responsive and collaborative – exactly what’s needed to build safer, more resilient communities.”

Wakefield BID invites all businesses to be part of the scheme – with access to digital radios, a secure intelligence-sharing app, monthly briefings, and hands-on support as standard.
