Wakefield BID has launched a brand-new Beer & Ale Week to celebrate the city’s pubs, bars and local brewing scene — running from 7th to 13th July 2025.
Beer & Ale Week Wakefield is a week-long celebration of the city’s brilliant independent venues, from proper pubs to lively bars, giving locals and visitors the chance to explore Wakefield one pint at a time.
The centrepiece of the campaign is the official Beer & Ale Trail, which highlights 18 pubs across the city alongside dozens of other bars and venues. Each participating pub will display a QR code that allows people to check in — and every check-in counts as an entry to win a £50 bar tab at that venue.
Visitors can use the interactive map to plan their route and discover everything that’s happening throughout the week. From limited edition ales to drinks deals, there’s plenty to enjoy.
Wakefield BID is also teaming up with WX to present The Big Jolly Beer & Ale Weekend, taking place from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th July. With live music, street food and a great atmosphere promised, it’s set to be one of the highlights of the summer.
“We’re thrilled to launch Beer & Ale Week as a new way of supporting the fantastic venues in our city,” said Thomas Wales, Chief Executive of Wakefield BID. “This is all about celebrating what’s already here in Wakefield — a welcoming, vibrant pub scene — and giving people a reason to head out and raise a glass to local businesses.”
The event is delivered by Wakefield BID and supported by Ey Up Wakefield, the city’s new consumer brand, designed to showcase everything that makes Wakefield special.
