Primark has confirmed that its new Wakefield store at Trinity Walk will officially open at 9am on Friday 27 November 2026. The retailer is relocating from The Ridings Shopping Centre, where its existing store will permanently close at 5.30pm on Thursday 26 November.
A new home at Trinity Walk
The new store will occupy the former Debenhams unit at Trinity Walk, keeping Primark in the heart of Wakefield city centre. The slightly larger store will provide 30,000 sq ft of retail space across one floor. Customers can expect a fresh, modern shopping environment featuring upgraded fixtures and fittings, improved signage and new display units. Primark’s Click & Collect service will also be available, giving customers access to a wider range of products through the Primark website. All 80 colleagues from the existing store will transfer to Trinity Walk. A further 40 colleagues have also been recruited to join the team.
More than 30 years in Wakefield
Primark first opened at The Ridings Shopping Centre in 1994. Its relocation represents the retailer’s continued investment in Wakefield after more than 30 years in the city.

Continued investment in Wakefield city centre
Together with Tenpin, the new Primark store will bring the former Debenhams unit fully back into use.
