Wakefield BID is delighted to announce Switalskis Solicitors as the winner of our annual Pumpkin Carving Display Competition! Their pumpkin, aptly named “HHJ of Death,” captured the imagination of both the public and the judging panel with its unique historical inspiration.
The concept behind “HHJ of Death” draws on a somber tradition from British legal history. Switalskis’ team crafted the pumpkin to represent a judge putting on the infamous “black cap” when passing a death sentence. This chilling yet clever design stood out for its creativity and attention to detail, paying homage to a long-standing legal symbol in a truly Halloween-appropriate way.
“We’re thrilled to see the creativity and spirit shown by local businesses during the competition,” said Thomas Wales, Chief Executive of Wakefield BID. “It’s events like these that bring the community together and add vibrancy to our city centre. Congratulations to Switalskis Solicitors on their well-deserved win!”
Thank you to all who participated and voted. This year’s competition brought an array of impressive displays, filling Wakefield with a fantastic Halloween spirit. We look forward to seeing what our businesses bring to next year’s competition!
